Employment

Ming Entertainment

Utility (Fall 2017)

  • As a utility, I worked on various ESPN and ABC Sports broadcasts for Ming Entertainment Group throughout the fall of 2017.

  • As part of my responsibilities on these productions, I would set up broadcast trucks, run cables, and strike the cameras and broadcast systems at the end of the game. In addition to this, I also assisted the camera operators during the game, whether it was coiling their cable snakes or clearing their path so they could get a shot that the director wanted.

Antiques Roadshow

Production Intern (Fall 2017)

  • During the fall of 2017, I had the opportunity to work on the most watched PBS show: Antique Roadshow. While working on several seasons at once I was able to see the entire process of producing the show, starting with planning the initial shoots during the pre-production stage to releasing the show after post-production.

  • As a production intern, my tasks consisted of, but were not limited to, logging footage, sitting in on editing and mixing sessions, getting in contact with vendors and venues, and helping around the office.

While interning there, I also had the opportunity to help with one of the shoots for an episode in Newport, Rhode Island. While on set I assisted the scenic team with setting up, helped the OTS team film the over-the-shoulder appraisals, and supported the team by answering any questions that the guests may have had.

Sing That Thing!

Audio Assistant/A2 and Studio Crew (Spring 2017)

  • I was able to work on season 3 of Sing That Thing! in 2017 while still attending college. The show, which is a WGBH studio television production that highlights various choral groups in the Boston area, allowed me to learned the ins and outs of studio television production while getting to work with the amazing team at WGBH.

  • One of my jobs on this show was to help out as a grip. As part of this, I assisted with loading-in the different performance groups, wrangling cables, and help with any other miscellaneous tasks that needed to be done around the studio.

Additionally, I was able to help the audio team as an A2, which required that I mic the stage and audience, as well as assist with the mix of the production.

Samples

These are a mixture of episodes from television shows that I have worked on in the past. If you would like more information about any of these experiences, or the ones that I did not list, feel free to ask!

Audio Mix/A1

A healthy amount of my experience was as an audio mix, working on television shows that ranged from news shows to musical performances. As the mix, my major concern was making sure that all the audio was crisp, clear and sounded as similar to the talent's voice as possible. In order to achieve this, I utilized techniques such as compression, EQ and mic placement, as well as some good old fashioned fader riding. Many of these shows required me to be the audio manager as well, so I would inherit those responsibilities in addition to any I had as the A1.

Technical Executive Producer

As a technical executive producer, I was in charge of everything that had to do with technology for the show, as well as some overlapping issues. Boiled down, this meant I was responsible for acquiring gear, working with the different department directors, starting at pre-production and going all the way through post. I was also responsible for managing the setup and strike of our systems, as well as resolve any issues that arose during taping.

Lighting Designer

Whenever working as a lighting designer, I was responsible for drawing up a lighting plot, picking color, hanging the lights and striking the grid - all to benefit the aesthetic of the show. In addition to this, it was my responsibility to manage those on the team, making sure that they weren't setting back the production schedule and that we were on time.
